Sophie's First Swim!

On Saturday we took Sophie Lou to the pool. We were pretty surprised with how well she did. The water felt amazing, since it was 95 outside. Sophia sat and crawled around in the shallow end. Then she had a great time in the deeper parts being held and enjoying the cool water. Thanks for the new swimsuits Mimi and Grandpa.

Getting ready

Let's go!

Feeling the water with her toes Standing Splashing Fun!!! " Umm...I think I'm done now"

Funny Story...kinda :)
So, I was feeding Soph some pineapple for snack time. If it were up to her she would shove an entire pineapple into her mouth, so instead I cut up pieces and then give her a couple at a time to feed herself. I would pick up a few pieces and then my hands would smell like pineapple and be sticky...wanting to be rid of the smell and sticky I would go wash my hands. Then start this process over when Sophia needed more pineapple. OK...here comes the point....so after several servings she was finally done I could not get the pineapple smell off my hands. It was driving me crazy, so I kept going back, soaping up and scrubbing. I did this 4 times....until I realized that the reason I could not get rid of the pineapple smell was because I was using PINEAPPLE SCENTED HAND SOAP!!
Yep...that pretty much sum's it up!

9 Months Old
Sophia turned 9 months old on Sunday. She had her 9 month check up this morning. She did such a wonderful job. Her Dr. and the nurses all commented on what a sweet, happy girl she was :) Soph is now weighing 17lbs 13oz (30%) and is 27 1/2 inches long (45%). She is pulling herself up onto her knees and then onto her feet. She can't pull herself straight up yet. She is eating absolutely everything, she still loves fruits and veggies. She is enjoying spaghetti, bisque's, soups and cheese. She has 8 teeth with more coming in!!! And we love her to pieces!!

House Update
Hello! I have been informed that I have been a slacker with putting up the house pictures. So here is the update. The house is almost ready...we move in 16 days!!! As you can see they have done the landscape and put the sod in (yesterday). We are so excited...it really is beginning to look like a home. The outside still needs the trim and pillars painted, pediments around the windows, the front doors installed.
Here is the "side yard" looking into the back yard. I didn't go back because they just planted the sod. So I will take pictures off the deck sometime this week. Here is a shot of the dining room. You can see that they have done the first coats of paint, and they have stained the floors. I will try and get better pictures soon. I love our chandelier!!
This is the base of our stairs looking into the dining room. Everything will be
repainted and polished up...but it's getting close!! I have pictures of the kitchen, bathrooms and all the other rooms but they are from awhile ago. So again I will get more updated pictures soon!!

Sick Little Sweetie
So last night was our first Emergency room visit as parents. Sophia has been feeling a bit under the weather the last couple of days, but nothing serious. Then last night about 9:30 we heard her coughing in her room. When we went to check on her she felt really warm, and was having trouble breathing. She was wheezing and having difficulty calming down. We called her pediatrician, who listened to Soph breathe to her on the phone, then she suggested that we take her to the ER. She was concerned with how fast Sophia was breathing. Anyway...she is much better now!! She has the croup, they gave her Motrin to bring down her fever (102.3), a steroid and a breathing treatment. We had to stay at the hospital for a couple hours to make sure she didn't have a bad reaction to the treatments. But we came home and got her in bed about 1:30 ish. This morning her fever is down and she has been sleeping most of the day. She was such a sweet little girl, the nurses loved her and she looked so cute in her little baby hospital gown. I am hoping we never have to see her in one again. :)

A Wonderful Weekend!
"Stand and consider the wonders of God"
Job 34:14
There is nothing out of the ordinary that happened this weekend, there were no huge, exciting plans. But we were able to spend some great quality time as a family, and cherish all the wonderful blessings that make up our life!
We spent some time at home with Sophia. She is beginning to pull herself up from her army crawl, and she is trying to learn the "sippy cup". She has 4 teeth coming in at once (that will bring the total up to 6 teeth). She is really being a trooper...but it's painful and I have not found anything that really seems to bring her much comfort.
We went to the park and walked around the lake, then went and bought Coke ICEES's to cool us down from the hot humid southern day.
We also drove by our house and took some pictures of the driveway and checked on the progress of the rest of the house. We have a closing date now...July 10th. So we are getting close and really excited. Here are some pictures from our weekend!
Sophia and Cheerios's! First time with a sippy cup.... sippy cup continued.... much easier this way. Out at the park Andrew and Sophia Abby and Sophia They poured the driveway, and front walkway!! Yippee!!

First Play Date :)
Last week Sophia was invited to her first play date at her friend Samantha's house. Sam is 18 months old, but she played great with Sophia. Sam would play with puzzles and Soph would eat the pieces. I think they both had a great time, and we have another play date in the works :)Playing (eating) with the puzzle.

8 Months Old
Sophia is now 8 months old...is that possible? It seems like we just brought her home a couple days ago. She is such a sweet little girl, every day she has a new "trick" or a different part of her personality is coming out.
She loves to crawl around the room and try and eat anything she can get her hands on (or mouth on). This has lead to me having to tell her "NO" very sternly when she attempts to put chords into her mouth.
She is saying "Dada" and "Momma".
She lets out these funny gasps when she is happy.
She will eat any food we give her, she LOVES fresh fruit!! Her new favorite flavor is applesauce with blueberries and peaches in it.
She can put "finger food" into her mouth...carrots, Teddy Puffs, little pieces of fruit.
Andrew and I have figured out that in her 8 months of life Sophia has been on 6 plane flights
(4 of them cross-county). And she has been to 10 states.
She is an amazing little person and brings so much joy into our lives!
